Named for the Innkeeper’s beloved horse she rescued as a wild colt ~ this spacious, Exclusive Suite offers the elegant, rustic comfort of an artistically and mindfully built Zuni Mountain Cabin accented with authentic 1930’s era antiques. The solid wood Queen bed-set was locally hand-crafted as well as the Navajo textiles and many other original art pieces throughout.
It is a pleasure to offer this unique experience of, “A home away from home” with a fully equipped kitchen featuring an antique gas range and sink: countertop oven, microwave, coffee maker, refrigerator/freezer, dining table & kitchen cart with cutlery. The hand-crafted Mexican hutch is stocked with cooking items (olive oil, seasonings, etc.), pots & pans, mugs & sparkling clean glassware including wine, margarita, martini and Champagne flutes. We provide regular and decaf coffee, hot chocolate, teas, honey, Demerara sugar & Splenda. Fresh Half & Half and butter are available to enjoy in your refrigerator and ice in your freezer to ensure refreshingly cold drinks.
Romance emanates from the antique wood-burning parlor stove in the bedroom/living area and the footed bathtub with hand-held shower below the custom stained glass window in the private bath. The primary heat throughout is electric, to ensure cozy comfort in any space at anytime.
The warm hues and grounding nature of historic, repurposed natural wood surrounds, from the pine plank floors and walls to the pine vigas and 4×4 Douglas fir post & beam construction to the decking in the vaulted ceiling. Ceiling fan quietly circulates either warmth or coolness depending upon the season and screened door and windows allow for birdsongs & the fresh mountain essence of our Ponderosa Pines, along with lovely cool night air ~ even during the hottest months of summer at our 7,700 ft. elevation.
The quaint, personal backyard garden area offers a relaxing summertime respite by the soothing sound of outdoor fountains and hummingbirds at your feeders. A table with umbrella and grill equipped with natural lump charcoal awaits the family chef’s choice of a fresh & savory dinner.
Enjoy the sitting areas within our extensive wildlife gardens or the inviting nature of our 43 acres of Ponderosa Forest that are available at anytime for a leisurely stroll, or perhaps experience the fascination inspired by the 300 million year old marine Fossil bed just beyond the house or possibly take-in an exhilarating woodland jog.
As always ~ looking forward to meeting & greeting our many established and new guest / friends, alike !
Your Inn-keeper of 27 years ~ what a pleasure and honor !
